Additional Cellists
Julia "Cotton" Pope - Julia is a native of the Seattle area who moved to Idaho to study with Samuel Smith at the College of Idaho where she earned her BA in cello performance and a MAT in music education. She is currently a member of the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra, Assistant Principal Cellist of the Boise Baroque Orchestra, Assistant Principal Cellist for Opera Idaho, and performs regularly on cello and vocals with the Bru Celtic Band.
Julia has been a Music Educator in the Caldwell and Meridian School Districts, and she continues to maintain a studio of talented and enthusiastic cellists. Her most memorable experiences include playing at Carnegie Hall with the Tacoma Youth Symphony and touring Europe with the USA Youth Ensembles. She has also appeared as a soloist with the Microsoft Symphony Orchestra.
Stephen "Hanz" Mathie - Stephen started playing cello at a young age and studied in Boise, Idaho. He has been principal cellist for the Boise Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, Boise State University Orchestra, and the Idaho All-State Orchestra. He was awarded the full scholarship for the National Symphony Orchestra's Summer Institute. Stephen has been a member of the Boise Philharmonic since 2003. He is currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science at Boise State University and is expected to graduate in December 2013.
Tasha "Cha Cha" Sitz - Tasha was born and raised in Pendleton, Oregon, where she played in several orchestras and musical groups as well as studying solo literature. She is currently a freshman at The College of Idaho studying Music and Physics. After graduating she hopes to find a career that will incorporate both areas, but if that doesn’t work out she might just become a carpenter. Afraid of nothing but dolphins, Tasha will face any obstacle in the way of attaining musical enlightenment.
Christeena "Buffy" Sevy - Buffy graduated from the College of Idaho in 2011 with a degree in biology and music. She hopes to attend graduate school for ecology and or ornithology after acquiring a variety of field experience around the world. She plans to continue playing cello unless a horrific accident prevents her from doing so. Perhaps from bridge jumping or a rattle snake bite.
